VAGA Associates have been contracted by SportScotland to provide support to 13 Scottish Governing Bodies of Sport (SGBs) to be in a position to achieve the Preliminary Level of the Equity Standard.
VAGA shares the ambitions of sportscotland to widen access to sport and believes that assisting SGBs towards the Preliminary level of the Equity Standard will help achieve this.
The Project Outcomes
By the end of the project Scottish sport will have:
- 13 SGBs with clearly defined plans for achieving the Preliminary Level of the Equity Standard
- A well informed network of “equity champions”
- A well resourced toolkit that supports the project and is of value in the future
- A tried and tested framework for supporting partners to achieve the Preliminary level of the Equity Standard.
The Approach
The VAGA approach is built around two central features:
- Providing quality support to SGBs as they work towards the Preliminary level
- Ensuring sportscotland acquires the resources to provide support to SGBs in the future.
These central features will be underpinned by:
- Joint workshops for SGBs to provide information about and benefits of achieving the Preliminary level.
- One to one support for each SGB to develop a plan to achieve Preliminary level.
- A well resourced toolkit of materials for use during this project and beyond
- Ongoing communications, monitoring and reporting
- Ad-hoc telephone and Email support
- Good communication channels
The main objective is to provide consistent, effective support to the SGBs working towards Preliminary level of the Equity Standard.
