Tansin is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham, England. She has been on IAPESGW’s Executive Board since 2005 and is a representative on the International Committee of Sports Pedagogy (ICSP).
In August 2008, she also was elected onto the Executive Board of ICCSPE. She has been a major contributor to physical education in schools and universities in the UK for over thirty years. Tansin has been an honoured member of the national subject association for physical education (afPE UK) since 2003. Much of her contribution has been in physical education teacher training. In addition to her education focus she has contributed in the world of sport, notably women’s artistic gymnastics as coach, international judge and member of the British Gymnastics Association Technical Committee.
More recently she has developed and implemented innovative programmes at the University of Birmingham; including a post experience Masters programme enabling professional dancers from Birmingham Royal Ballet to enter higher education.
Her main research interests are in the field of gender, ethnicity and religion in the UK and internationally. She won a prestigious Leverhulme Research Fellowship award in 2008 to work with women in teacher training in Oman, which led to meeting many new friends and colleagues in the Middle East.

In addition to the enormous contribution Janice offers IAPESGW, she has been president of the Australian Womensport and Recreation Association (AWRA) since 2005. This association encourages the participation of women of all ages and abilities in sporting and recreational pursuits; and develops leadership skills for women in sport.
Janice has a long history of involvement in sport and physical education as a participant, teacher, adviser and lecturer. She represented Victoria in softball, basketball and hockey and the University of Melbourne in track and field. She competed in women's open and Master's basketball tournaments.
Janice also has extensive experience in sports administration at state and national levels and runs her own sport and recreation consultancy. She worked for ACHPER (Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation), the Australian Sports Commission and the ACT Government and was former president (life member) of Womensport and Recreation for New South Wales.
Janice was awarded an Australian Sports Medal 2000 for services to basketball and in 2002 was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to the community and women’s sport. Her current life as a farmer does not prevent her from continuing to make a massive contribution to the world of sport.

Dr. Rosa Lopez de D'Amico is Coordinator of the Research Center “Estudios en Educación Física, Salud, Deporte, Recreación y Danza” (EDUFISADRED) at Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL) Pedagógico de Maracay, Venezuela.
Her academic and research scope had been distinguished three times in the last two years, in her country. In 2008, she received the CDCHT Award (National University Council for Scientific Development in Humanities, Technology and Science Award), the most distinguished Venezuelan honour that recognizes the last five years of research production in the area of humanities in the country. It is important to mention that for the first time this recognition has been given to a woman and to a Professor from the Pedagogical University, UPEL.
Professor, PhD, Dr. Rosa Lopez de D'Amico is also the first woman in the area of Physical Education and Sport who receives “UPEL National Award for Research Path”. This distinction was awarded for her contribution to sports, languages, literature, physical education, sport management, academic and university life in this Latin country.
In 2009, she received the “Honour to Scientific Merit in Education” Award granted by the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology FUNDACITE Aragua, Venezuela.
Rosa is president of the Latin American Association for Sport Management (ALGEDE); Vice president of the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport (ISCPES); Secretary of the Latin American Association of Sociocultural Studies in Sport (ALESDE); Chair of the International Committee for Sport Pedagogy (ICSP - ICSSPE); Editorial Board Member of the International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE); she is currently working as General Director of the Aragua State Institute of Sport and she is the Editor of the Journal: Actividad Física y Ciencias. www.actividadfisicayciencias.com

Karin has been the Executive Director of CAAWS since 2002 (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity / L'Association Canadienne pour l'avancement des femmes du sport et de l'activité physique). This entails working with Sport Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, National / Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations and multi-sport and physical activity associations to assist them in developing and implementing gender equity initiatives within their organisations.
Karin has a long history of involvement in many sports and associations giving her breadth and depth of experience since her graduation in physical education from the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan, in 1983. Following her participant interests in field and ice hockey player, Karin moved into a range of posts as coach, national team coordinator, chef du mission, administrator and manager across a range of sports and major international events. These included working with Basketball Canada, co-ordinating the Skate Canada figure skating team at the 1994 Olympics at Lillehammer, and leading the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union Team at the 1997 Winter World University Games.
She currently serves on the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Equity and Equality committee and the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Women’s Committee. Her interest and commitment to CAAWS has been a large part of her professional life and she now leads this association in its mission to access opportunities and choices for girls and women as participants and leaders of sport and physical activity. Many of the values of equity, inclusiveness, fairness and respect, mirror those of IAPESGW, which attracted her to the association.

Marianne is deputy head of the centre for Sport and Development and researcher at the Swiss Academy for Development (SAD). She is a historian and political scientist who studied in Fribourg/Switzerland, North Carolina/USA and Siena/Italy.
In 2005, Marianne was mandated by the Swiss government (SDC) to conduct a cross-cultural study specifically focussing on gender equity, sport and development in Iran, Zambia, and Northern Caucasus. Furthermore Marianne Meier conducted workshops on monitoring and evaluation for NGOs and/or coaches in Sri Lanka, Germany, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, and Namibia.
She is currently managing the M&E pilot project “Football for Hope” mandated by FIFA and streetfootballworld.
Her book “Tender feet on hard leather” on the history of female football was published in 2004 and awarded a prize for Gender Studies at the University of Fribourg/Switzerland.

Maryam is assistant professor of Shiraz University since 2003 and Head of the Physical Education Department at Shiraz University, 2004-2009.
She is an Assistant Professor specialising in exercise physiology and women’s health, and Islam and women in sport. Maryam has published many articles in Iran, America and India and books including the best year book in Iran in 2004 on the ‘Effect of the environment on physical activity’. She has been the first best student in PhD entrance exam of exercise physiology at 1998 in Iran.
She has been a scientific board member of several national and international sport science and physical education conferences in Iran. She has presented at many conferences including in Canada, China, Oman, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

Maria is Assistant Professor in the Centre for Sports Sciences and University Sports, at the University of Vienna, Austria.
Her main interests are in the field of sport pedagogy, adapted physical activity (for all ages and people with all kind of disability), inclusive physical education, dance pedagogy, volleyball and other sports.
Maria is a major contributor to national and international voluntary bodies. She is vice president of IFAPA, their European representative and representative on ICSP (International committee of sport pedagogy) a working group of the Association's Board of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE - member), board member and past president of EUFAPA (European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity), and president of the Austrian Federation of Adapted Physical Activities. Darlene has dedicated her life to sport, teaching and research, and has gained many honours for her inspirational work with young researchers and her developmental work in the area of women in sport and leadership.
She is a full professor and Coordinator of Sport Management Programs at Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida, USA. She was president of IAPESGW 2005 – 2009, and we are delighted to keep her on the Board for the next four years. She has also been President of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS), the first Director of the ICHPERSD Girls and Women in Sport Commission, Deputy Delegate for AAHPERD to the United States Olympic Committee, Vice President of Member Relations and Human Resources in USA Volleyball, and a member of Women’s Sports Foundation International Committee.
Some of her many roles have included Editor, Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal; Editorial Board Chair and President's Committee, International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), and she edited Women, Sport, and Physical Activity: Sharing Good Practice.
Darlene has completed two Doctoral degrees, one in the field of motor learning, the other in sport management. She has invested much time in South Africa where she is an Extraordinary Professor, University of Pretoria, in the Department of Biokinetics, Sport and Leisure Sciences.

Anneliese Goslin holds the following degrees from the University of Pretoria, South Africa: BA(PE); BA(PE) Honours; MA (PE); D Phil and MBA. She always completed a Higher Education Diploma at the University of South Africa. She is currently a full professor in the department of Biokinetics, Sport and Leisure Sciences at the University of Pretoria as well as the Director of the Center for Leisure Studies in the same department.
She is a recognised international scholar and has presented 42 papers at national and international scientific congresses in the field of Sport and Recreation Management and Sport Science. 51 peer-reviewed articles were published under her name. Her scholarly competence is further reflected in the leadership positions held in national and international scientific organisations.
She is the current President of Recreation South Africa, the scientific and professional association for leisure sciences in South Africa, Editorial Board Member of ICSSPE, and board member of IAPESGW. She is also a full member of the NASSM and AAPHERD.
Her contributions to the fields of recreation science and sport management are acknowledged through a number of prestigious scholarly awards over two decades. In 1998 she was awarded the State President’s Sport Award in South Africa for her contribution to Recreation, in 2001 the IOC awarded her for her contributions in Sport for All in Africa. She is also the recipient of scholarly awards from the Kennesaw State University (Catalyst Award), and the Women’s Sports Foundation Sport and Physical Activity Research award in 2009.
Her areas of scholarly interest include sport and recreation management, sport development, sport and social change, sport leadership development and international sport business management.

Gladys is the National Director of Physical Education and Health Promotion at the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and Professor at the Higher Institute of Physical Culture (ISCF) of Cuba.
A prestigious career is reflected in Gladys’s membership of many international bodies, for example: Vice President of the World Organization of Child Education and Development (OMED); President of the Latin American Association of Physical Education and School Sport Teachers (AIEFDE); a member of the World Organization of Preschool Education (OMEP); the Pedagogy Commission of the Standing Committee to the Pan American Physical Education Congresses; and the INDER representative for a UNICEF Project on the Rights of Children.
She has led on the implementation of all preschool physical education programmes in Cuba and has been a major contributor to research and scientific committees across the region.
Gladys has been the President of the Organizing Committee for many major international scientific events held in Cuba since 2000 including: the World Convention on the Child and Psychomotor Function (2005), the Latin-American and Caribbean Summit on Physical Education in 2006, and the Regional Summit for Comparative Studies in Physical Education and Sport (ISCPES) in 2007. Toshiko works as a teacher and researcher at Japan Women's College of Physical Education with special responsibility for dance.
She has been a Director of the Japan Association of Physical Education for Women (JAPEW) and a long-standing supporter linking Japan and its many physical education and dance associations to IAPESGW. She has served on the Executive Board since 2005 and ensures excellent communication with the many Japanese members of the Association as well as contributing to the global development of ideas.
Her research areas include Physical Education, Aesthetics and History of Art, Choreology and Dance Education. Her particular interests are in teaching dance as a creative art experience and comparative studies on Dance Education (in physical education) in junior, senior and higher education.

Canan gained her first and Masters Degrees at the Middle East Technical University, Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Sport and her Doctorate at Hacettepe University, in the School of Sports Science and Technology.
Her research is in the field of physical education and sport, gender, social and cultural reproduction. Canan is a member of both AISEP and the Turkish Sports Science Association. She has been instrumental in the IAPESGW website being translated into Turkish and is bringing Turkey into the mainstream of gender in sport dialogue internationally.
She worked as a research assistant, then lecturer at Baskent University, researcher at Edinburgh University, Scotland and since 2009 as an Assistant Professor at Hacetteppe University. Canan has published widely and presented at many conferences, hosting an Olympism Symposium in April 2009 at Hacettepe University.
In 2006, she won the Young Scholars Award of the International Association of Physical Education in Higher Education (AIESEP), in Finland.
